Botanical Pressure Prints with Ferns
Members: $30 • Non-members: $35
Jessica Peterson, Director, Common Press at the University of Pennsylvania
Stephanie Bruneau, Assistant Director of Adult Education, Morris Arboretum & Gardens
This special program will explore pressure printing, a method of making printing plates using low-relief botanical materials. After we make the printing plates, we will then print with them on the Common Press Vandercook printing presses. The botanical materials we will use in the program will be fern fronds collected from the Dorrance H. Hamilton Fernery at Morris Arboretum and Gardens—the only remaining freestanding Victorian fernery in North America. We will learn a bit about ferns in general, and the types of ferns we will be printing with, as we create our prints!
This program will take place at Common Press, in the Fisher Fine Arts Library on the UPenn campus.
