Counselor In Training Leadership Development Program

Calling all youth ages 12 – 16 to apply to the CIT Leadership Development Program the Morris Arboretum & Gardens!

Do you have a teen in your life who is good with kids, likes to spend time outdoors, and is looking for work experience? Encourage them to apply for a CIT (Counselor in Training) position with our Nature Explorers Summer Camp!

Our new three-week CIT Leadership Development Program provides real work experience andsupportive leadership development. CITs will assist our experienced camp staff and attend daily trainings that will build skills and increase responsibility by exploring how to be a good a role model, group management, camper engagement, and much more.

CITs will attend a one-day training before camp begins and daily training during camp. The Leadership Development Program fee is $75 per 3-week session for members and $100 for non-members. This fee will be waived for returning CITs. Please refer to the CIT application for the Leadership Development Program for more information about duties and qualifications.

The Leadership Development Program runs for three weeks: Session 1 will run from July 1–19 and Session 2 from July 22–August 9. CITs must commit to one full three-week program. CIT Leadership Program applications are due by February 16, 2024. Please ask your references to submit their reference forms by February 16. Interviews will begin the week of February 19, and decisions will go out in mid-March.  

A Zoom info session for prospective CITs and their parents will be held on February 8 at 4:30 pm.
