Learn about the extravagant and elegant ways households of means entertained during the late 1800s from Becky Diamond, author of the forthcoming The Gilded Age Cookbook. Then get a first-hand look at the lavish dishware and china used by the Arboretum’s own Lydia Morris when she entertained at Compton, her summer home, once located on the property of the Morris Arboretum. Arboretum archivist Joyce Munro will also explain how Morris used her world travels to expand her own culinary tastes and inspired her to compile a cookbook that became a source for entertaining. Finally, enjoy a tasting of some of Morris's own delightful recipes.
